Overview Sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) is a fast-growing tropical legume originating from the Indian subcontinent. It belongs to the Fabaceae (Leguminosae) family and fixes atmospheric nitrogen through root nodules. Commonly grown as a cover crop, green manure, and increasingly as a forage/fodder crop for livestock. Grows rapidly — reaching 1.5–3 meters tall within 60–90 days under favorable conditions. Thrives in tropical and subtropical regions with well-drained soils and moderate rainfall.
